Libertarian Party supports British Airline Pilots Association against ID cards
Libertarian Party Support For BALPA Over ID Cards Press Release Posted by Patrick on Nov 20 2008 Press Releases>> Press Release +++++ PRESS RELEASE +++++ IMMEDIATE ++++ 19/11/08The Libertarian Party UK has today sent the following letter of support to Jim McAuslan, Gen Sec of BALPA offering our support to their proposed industrial action against the moves by Jacqui Smith to impose ID Cards onto airline workers. Dear Mr McAuslan, We in the Libertarian Party UK would like to take the opportunity to offer our full and unwavering support to the action that Balpa is considering with regard to the enforced take up of ID Cards on your members. We have long considered that ID Cards in the UK are little if nothing to do with security, but merely to serve the Government aims of corporatism, providing legislative protection to those big business partners who are willing to join it. The moves this week to allow retail outlets and the Post Office to collect the data for these cards is in our view insidious. It is also becoming clearer with every passing week that nothing to do with ID Cards will be voluntary, and eventually we can envisage a country where to obtain any...
Obama Wants to Disarm U.S. Pilots
The Obama administration is taking steps quietly to shut down the program that qualifies commercial airline pilots to carry firearms in jetliner cockpits in order to ward off another 9/11-type attack. The administration recently diverted $2 million from a program to train and certify pilots to carry firearms safely while on duty. Instead, it is using the money to hire additional field inspectors to help discipline pilots who step out of line, according to a report in Tuesday’s Washington Times. A Times editorial condemned the Obama administration's action, calling it “completely unnecessary harassment of the pilots.” Since Obama took office, the approval process for certifying pilots to carry firearms has ground to a halt, the newspaper reports. Pilots are afraid to speak out about the behind-the-scenes maneuverings, for fear of retaliation, according to the newspaper. No cases have been reported in which pilots have brandished a weapon inappropriately or otherwise abused their eligibility to carry firearms.http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/obama_airline_pilots/2009/03/18/193314.html?s=al&promo_code=7C69-1Why doesn't just he completely disarm our military while...
Feds Deny Obama Will Take Guns Away from Pilots
I do not who to believe anymore when it comes to Obama. Yesterday I posted a discussion that he was planning to take guns away from pilots now it is being denied. What is with the American media? It covers ups things we should be informed about but then tells us things that are not true. What gives? Federal officials and the airline pilots union are denying a report that the Obama administration is seeking to end a program that trains pilots to carry guns in jetliner cockpits. An editorial published in the Washington Times on Tuesday stated that “President Obama is quietly ending the federal firearms program, risking public safety on airlines in the name of an anti-gun ideology.” About 12,000 pilots have been authorized to carry handguns while flying aircraft as part of the Federal Flight Deck Officers (FFDO) program, and the Times article called the administration’s move “completely unnecessary harassment of the pilots.” http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/pilot_gun_report_denied/2009/03/19/193742.html?s=al&promo_code=7C77-1 But Sterling Payne, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), told Fox News of the editorial: “It’s inaccurate....
Do you believe that women should be limited to certain careers and activities?
An opinion was expressed in another discussion that there are some things that women shouldn't engage in when it comes to their careers. As someone who was raised to believe that I could grow up to be whoever I wanted to be and who, in turn, raised three daughter to believe the same thing, I strongly disagree with that opinion. During the past 30+ years women have made great inroads into occupations traditionally dominated by men. Women serve side by side with their male counterparts in the military, are police officers, detectives, FBI agents, firefighters, welders, automotive and motorcycle mechanics, astronauts, steelworkers, airline pilots, construction workers...and race car drivers...to name just a few. When my oldest daughter was 17, she asked me to sign my permission for her to become a volunteer firefighter. Her big brother made the mistake of suggesting that she couldn't possibly do that because she was A)a girl and B) weighed around 100lbs. After she put him in a headlock, he changed his opinion.[em]lol[/em] Not only did she pass the physically intesive training course, she went on to also volunteer with a Search and Rescue team. I find it hard to accept...
